I passed this hut on April 23rd with Rover Scouts during the last day of hiking from where the trail crosses the Hawker-Parachilna Road to the Parachilna Gorge trailhead (7 days/125ish km.)
I think you will have difficulty camping in this hut for free - the national park charges bushwalkers $5 per person per night.
Also the hut is very open with no doors and open windows - very dusty, no protection from the wind and not a particularly nice place to sleep. It might be useful for cooking/sheltering in if it was bucketing down with rain, but it would have to be raining pretty hard for a long time before I'd sleep in there. If it's fine I'd definitely prefer to sleep in a tent. _________________ Cameron
