Hi all,
Does someone know the current status of water tank on this section? According to the last post, water should not be a problem. We are not relying 100% on the water of the tanks, but it's good to know.
Someone else planning to walk this section for the weekend? :)

Hey Gerardo, the water tanks should be all good there. There's really no reason to be apprehensive about water levels in the tanks for this section. That said, as a fellow hiker it's ok to be concerned about something so vital!
This year I've seen tanks at Wilpena Homestead (3/4 to full, 2 weeks ago) and Aroona (plenty, June) and pigeon bore (working, June).
Reports posted elsewhere here that you saw affirm that tank levels are all good (rainfall has been high in the past 12 months):

Hi,
I fortgot to reply back...
Aroona Campsite had plenty on Saturday.
Trezona Campsite was empty on Sunday, but the Trezona Bore was operational.
Middlesight Hut had water on Monday,
Yayanna Hut had water on Monday.

Thanks for letting us know. Disturbing to hear that Trezona was empty, this can happen occassionally at car campsites. Middlesight Water Hut is close enough, maybe not after a long day's hike, but close enough nevertheless.
Recently we have been constructing new campsites with shelters and water tanks, and when sites were close to car campsites the hikers campsite has been positioned a kilometre or so away, off the road, so the water supply is more reliable for hikers.

Actually it makes a little bit more fun the hike.
After hiking on Fleurieu Peninsula and Flinders Ranges, I am looking forward to continue hiking on the Heysen, it's incredible :) |

Well, now that you mentioned that. I already have the two books, but I am having troubles in looking for a nice hike near of Adelaide for this weekend (2 days of hiking and camping on Saturday night). Any suggestions?

You could look at the major areas to camp near Adelaide: Mt Crawford Forest, Kuitpo Forest and what loops you could do there using the Heysen Trail, other trails and forest roads.
Assuming a car shuffle, rather than a loop walk:
- something like a road somewhere in Mt Crawford forest south to Cudlee Creek North campsite and on to Montacute.
- Mt Crawford to Rossiters Hut (bookings supposed to be required but latch mostly broken and camping ok) to Tanunda.
- Mylor south to Rocky Creek Hut (bookings required for hut, campsite ok) and on to Kuitpo Forest.
A few ideas off the of my head, you'd want to estimate the distances and choose something appropriate.
Otherwise Deep Creek can be good too with lots of campsite options, but a bit longer of a drive (1h - 1h30min).
