GPS File Release Version History
This page contains details of update releases of the GPS files for the Heysen Trail. Please refer to the Maps page to view details of maps, including the Google Map Interface, download KML file for Google Earth, download GPX file handheld GPS units.
v3.5 10/12/2011
3 new campsites added:
- S2.2 Robinson Hill campsite
- S2.7 Finniss River campsite
- S2.5 Mt Cone campsite
The following items are still to be updated in a further file release:
- An up-to-date track of the re-route of the alternative route around the Mt Arden waterfall has not been included, we do not yet have a GPS file with sufficient data.
- The location of the Red Range campsite which was recently moved a short distance
ADDENDUM: The Red Range campsite, which was moved in March 2011, was only moved 200m north of its previous location. The Heysen Trail passes directly through the campsite.

2 re-routes added:
- N5.1 re-route at the northern end of Yourambulla Range avoiding an area of aboriginal significance
- N5.7 correction of trail line to include a re-route between Black Gap and Bridle Gap which had previously been omitted (re-route was included in 2010 guidebook)
Edited items:
- Fire Ban District boundaries updated with accurate GPS data from the CFS
- S1.3 trail file error corrected on small section of the beach
1 waypoint added:
- S2.4 Heysen's Rest Bed & Breakfast accommodation added

- S6.6/N1.1 re-route through Spalding updated with more accurate GPS data, particularly near Freshwater Weir
1 waypoint edited:
- N4.3 location of Eyre Depot shelter and campsite updated with more accurate information (campsite was previously marked as being 160m north of actual location. Campsite is 400m south of monument, beside trail

3 re-routes added:
- S1.1 where trail starts at Cape Jervis (new trailhead built early 2010)
- N4.4 the crossing over the Willochra Creek
- N5.4 trail re-routed near Mernmerna Gap, to avoid private wilderness activities of Arkaba Station
2 waypoints added:
- southern trailhead at Cape Jervis
- northern trailhead at Parachilna Gorge
